Timken India to Invest Rs. 360 Million (US$8 Million) in Additional Capacity
Timken India Limited, a subsidiary of The Timken Company (NYSE: TKR) today announced that it will invest the amount of Rs. 360 Million, equivalent to approximately US$8 million, to expand tapered roller bearing manufacturing capacity in India. Timken India Limited will be installing machines for this expansion at Chennai.

On Oct. 15, 2010, Switzerland’s Gotthard base tunnel became a reality. The electromechanical brake enables their secure location. Compared to conventional systems with separately attached brake, the unit is much lighter and more compact. At the same time, it is a closed system, which means that there is less exposure to aggressive disinfectants which could damage the materials used.

Timken Completes Acquisition of QM Bearings and Power Transmission
The Timken Company today announced it has completed the acquisition of QM Bearings and Power Transmission, Incorporated, based in Ferndale, Washington. That location, as well as manufacturing facilities in Prince George, British Columbia, and Wuxi, China, along with distribution facilities in Ontario, Texas, and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, will become part of the Process Industries segment of Timken's Bearings and Power Transmission Group.
E1 Radial Spherical Roller Bearings in X-life Quality
The FAG E1 spherical roller bearing is the classic bearing variant for the rotor main shaft in wind turbines. This rolling bearing design in X-life quality combines a high load carrying capacity and an angular adjustment facility. Schaeffler Group Industrial also now offers bearings with a steel cage instead of the conventional solid brass cage for the typical sizes used in medium-size wind turbines with outputs from 1.4 to 2.1 megawatts. These are bearings with a bore of 600 mm (outside diameter 870 mm) and 630 mm (outside diameter 920 mm).
Needle roller bearings for the Shinkansen
With a range of components for the braking system of the new Shinkansen E5, the Rail Sector Management of Schaeffler Group Industrial has succeeded for the first time in being represented in the Japanese high speed train. The new series of the Shinkansen will starti running between Tokyo und Shin Aomori from December 2010. The increase in travel speed along this line from 275 km/h to 320 km/h required a new high performance braking system, which was developed by Knorr-Bremse. The axle-mounted brake calipers in the system are fitted with needle roller bearings and drawn cup needle roller bearings, inner rings, axial bearing washers, bearing washers and axial needle roller and cage assemblies from INA.
